The new co-owner of our club is the Israeli company True Player Group, which is half owned by the family of David Blatt. Needless to say, he’s a European champion, Euroleague winner and former LeBron James coach he led in Cleveland. Most recently, he served as an advisor to the famous New York Knicks. The other half of the company is owned by Idan Avshalom, who also served as general manager of Hapoel Jerusalem.
The arrival of the new co-owner of the club was announced at a press conference by the general manager Michal Jimramovský.
“Negotiations have been going on since last autumn and I am glad that they have now reached a successful end. Our common goal is to gradually make our club a good brand that will make our fans happy. We also want to bring Brno men’s basketball back to the top of the league. ” True Player Group, specializes in the development of young players and, according to Jimramovsky, was looking for a suitable club in Europe, operating in a larger city with good transport connections.
The coach of the Czech basketball team, Ronen Ginzburg, who mediated the initial contact, has a great deal of credit for the connection of the Israeli company with the Brno basketball club.
“Brno has a huge potential, basketball has a rich history, promising basketball talents and a great coach in the form of Lubomír Růžička. I told this to my Israeli friends and I am glad that they agreed with me. I believe that this cooperation will work and Czech basketball will only make money on it, “said Ginzburg.
It was also announced at the press conference that from the new season, the Brno club will play in the Vodova sports hall, which has a capacity of 3,000 spectators and offers fans and partners greater comfort.
Another good news is that Brno managed to get the U19 extra league from the Liberec Condors and talented players from Brno can play the highest competition. At the same time, it was agreed that the youth teams will play under the name Basket Brno.
“Basket Brno has decided to cooperate with all structures of the youth components of Brno basketball. Which we have done in the past in the international EYBL competition, where it did not matter who is from which club, but the most talented of all teams played under the banner of Basket Brno, “said coach Růžička.
Following the work with young people, the Next Generation project was also introduced, the main task of which is to help talented basketball players to make the most effective transition from amateur sports to the professional world. The main purpose of the project is the overall care of the individual, who in recent years in the top world of sports are placed more and more demands on performance. The ambassador of the whole project is the Czech representative Patrik Auda.
